Our sweet Lily is One!
Monday was one of the best days I've had in a long time: dear Blake had the whole day off, Lily took the most beautiful of long naps, and we went to the pumpkin patch.
When Brian told Blake and me that he was going to propose, I immediately knew I had to be the one to photograph it. Upon talking through ideas with Brian, we decided to take photos before the engagement, during, and after as a celebration. When they arrived at location, it was hard for me to keep my excitement under wraps. I could hardly contain how much joy I had that one of my dearest friends was going to propose, and to one of the loveliest women! And the actual proposal? Absolutely magical! Actually being there, witnessing and photographing the proposal was completely humbling. I am still taken aback that I was able to be a part of such a raw and intimate moment. You see, this is what truly blows me away. This is why I photograph.
In-home shoots are my favorite. There is something so personal, so natural, and so absolutely candid that makes the photographs beam with truth, love, and tenderness. What a pleasure it was to photograph the Parsons family and their newest addition, sweet baby Magnolia at only five days old!
I should note that this is not an engagement shoot. Just two sweet souls in love.
After the family shoot I did with Blake and Lily, the hilltop in Challenger Park had quickly become my favorite spot to photograph in Simi Valley. Most of the day, this place is dismal, nothing more than a Dead Stick Field, however, during golden hour, these hills sing! Of course, I had to take Jerrid and Micaela there to photograph this mini session! At first I was disappointed because clouds rolled in and golden hour became all but one golden minute, but their friendship and love for each other was golden enough to make the bleak place look magical
Hello friends and thank you for viewing my blog! I will use this space as an honest medium portraying our life adventures and recent photoshoots. That being said, here are some photos from my most recent photoshoot!
Desiring to strengthen my photography skills, I have made the decision to shoot exclusively in manual, a scary and intimidating feat! What better way to practice than taking my two loves out during golden hour! I set up the camera with all the settings and sweet Blake even took a few good ones of me! What a doll!
